In 2012, we will celebrate the 30th anniversary of Nobeyama Radio Observatory (NRO) in National Astronomical Observatory of Japan (NAOJ). In this occasion, we are going to have an international symposium entitled: New Trends in Radio Astronomy in the ALMA Era − The 30th Anniversary of Nobeyama Radio Observatory in the Hakone area of Japan from December 3 to December 8, 2012.

As the above title indicates, the main purpose of this symposium is not to look back into the past achievements, but to discuss the new and future trends expected for Radio Astronomy on the basis of the initial outcomes of ALMA. The symposium will be held just after the ALMA “Cycle 1” operation, and hence, we will be able to enjoy hot discussions on new results in various research fields. At the same time, we will learn what complementary instruments we need or are planning in the ALMA era, and moreover, what project we should plan beyond the ALMA.
