NRO 45m Telescope

The 45-m radio telescope at Nobeyama Radio Observatory is the largest millimeter-wave telescope in the world; it is equipped with low-noise HEMT and SIS receivers from 10 GHz to 230 GHz along with powerful spectral line and continuum back-ends. Such versatility has enabled astronomers to address a lot of issues such as studies on the interstellar matter of our Galaxy, formation of stars and planetary systems, and of galaxies. Currently the instrumental development for this telescope is concentrating in increasing the mapping speed using focal plane arrays.
