Postdoctoral Researcher Position at NRO
The Nobeyama Radio Observatory of the National Astronomical Observatory
of Japan (NAOJ) invites applications for a postdoctoral researcher
position starting as soon as possible. The successful candidate will
work with Drs. Daisuke Iono, Kuno Nario and Ryohei Kawabe on the
commissioning and improving the stability of the new 32GHz wide
spectrometer system installed on the 45m telescope, and use this
instrument to observe high-z galaxies as part of the high-z legacy
project.
The candidate is required to reside at the Nobeyama
observatory, and spend 50% of the time on the above project. The rest of
the time can be spent on individual research.The candidate will have
internal access to 45m time and will be eligible to apply for ALMA time
through the EA-ARC. We have funding for this project until the end of
March 2013.

Nobeyama Radio Observatory operates the 45m telescope and the Atacama Submillimeter Telescope Experiment (ASTE), both telescopes have been used extensively in galactic and extragalactic astronomy by researchers around the world. Nobeyama is located about 3 hours from central Tokyo, in a small beautiful town with a population of about 3000 and at an elevation of 1350m.
