Let's view contour maps of a map image

This TASK is a viewer of an image file that was created by NewStar imaging tasks, such as Map(large) and P-V DIAGRAM. MAKE CONTOUR shows a contour image of the map file to the display, or print to the local printer. This TASK uses a task CNTR in AIPS.

* USAGE:
1. Starting MAKE CONTOUR
Click [MAKE CONTOUR] on Button Panel. The following parameter window appears.

2. Setting up parameters
  1. Type map file name in "Image name" or select a file from [File List]. Usage of [File List]
  2. Check all 0 with "Bottom left" and "Top right". Then the entire map is displayed.
  3. Set "Type of labeling" to 'Standard'.
  4. Set "Level setting mode" to '(min,max, & step)'. And type minimum, maximum, and step of contour levels at "(min,max,step)".
    For example, if you set to minimum=1, maximum=15, and step=1.5, contours with 1, 2.5, 4, 5.5, 7, .... , 14.5 of levels in the map image are drawn.
  5. Set "TTT, SSS, or LW?" to 'Plot to TTT & delete plot file'.

3. Execution
  1. Click [Exec] in the menu bar, and select [Activate program] from the pull-down menu. The following TTT window appears.


  2. This TASK ends with the message "Appears to have ended successfully" in the message window.
