Let's make a map file for a position velocity diagram
[Image: P-V DIAGRAM]

This TASK is to make a map file for a position-velocity diagram from spectral data. After this task, a map output can be made by using MAKE CONTOUR for contour maps or by using MAP to SSS for gray or simple color on SSS window.
reference: P-V DIAGRAM

* NOTICE:
Output file will be overwritten when the name of the output file is the same as the one already exists.

* USAGE:
1. Starting P-V DIAGRAM
Click [P-V DIAGRAM] on Button Panel. The following parameter window appears.

< Parameter window for P-V DIAGRAM >

2. Setting up parameters
  1. Type the spectrum file name in "Spectrum File(in)" or select a file from [File List]. Usage of [File List]
  2. Type a map file name for output in "Map file (out)".
  3. Choose the coordinate system from '(RA, DEC)', '(L, B)', '(dRA, dDEC)', '(dl, db)', '(dAZ, dEL)' or '(X, Y)' at "Coordinate".
  4. Press [Position map]. The TTT window with observed position will appear.
  5. Define a line to create a map file by choosing a start corner by using a mouse. A single click will define a position for a start corner.

  6. Define a line to create a map file by choosing a position for an end corner by using a mouse.

  7. Set "Gridding Mode" to 'Spacing'.
  8. Specify a data spacing of map along position in "Spacing(")".
  9. Choose 'smoothing' at "Searching Mode".
  10. Specify FWHM of the Gaussian smoothing in "Smoothing Width(")".
  11. Set "Projection Mode" to 'cos Dec'.
  12. Type minimum and maximum of range at velocity in "Sp. range".
  13. Set "Smoothing Unit" to 'km/s'.
  14. Specify FWHM of the Gaussian smoothing along spectrum in units of above "Smoothing Unit" in "Smoothing Width(spe)".

3. Execution
  1. Click [Exec] in the menu bar, and select [Activate program] from the pull-down menu.
  2. This TASK ends with the message "Appears to have ended successfully" in the message window.
