Let's back up or load your data
- 1. Overview of TASKs used for backup and load
-
For details see below.
- 2. Back up your data
-
You can select a desired format for backup.
- NewStar (AIPS) format (for raw data, spectrum, and image)
- Use a TASK FILE SERVICE
(save to tape or disk:
Very convenient for transfering data to other Newstar environment [e.g. export version])
- FITS format (for spectrum and image)
- For spectrum: Use a TASK Sp FITS
(Note: Format of FITS files for spectrum seems different at each observatory.
FITS files of spectrum created at Nobeyama may not be compatible at other
observatories.)
- For image: Use a TASK Image FITS
- TEXT format (for spectrum)
A DAT tape is available at the stockroom. Please ask to the staff members.
- 3. Load your data
-
- raw data(*.nqm)
- NewStar (AIPS) format (for raw data, spectrum, and image)
- Use a TASK FROM CMT
(load from tape or disk)
- FITS format (for spectrum and image)
- For spectrum: Save a FITS file somewhere in your directory. Then,
use a TASK Sp FITS
- For image: Save a FITS file in a directory /home/xxx/yyy/DA01X
(for username=xxx, and project=yyy). Then you can load this FITS file to AIPS,
for example, using AIPS TASKs FITLD, IMLOD,...
The AIPS logical name of this directory is "DA01:".
Or you can directly load FITS files from a tape using the same AIPS TASK.
- How to use tape
remhost 'name of I/O server' (m100u, m200u, ...)
remtape 1 (1:rmt/0 2:rmt/1)
intape 1
mount
... operation of FITLD, etc. ...
dismount
- For image: Image FITS files can be loaded to IDL.
IDL is installed in our server, and it
can be used at workstations.
For further details of Image FITS files, see section 4 of
explanations
on images.
