Spectrum: AT for BEARS

This TASK automatically averages spectral data taken with BEARS at the neighboring observational positions weighted according to their spatial displacements. Moreover, RMS weighting (1/rms2) based on noise in the spectra is also considered. The former weighting is calculated based on Gaussian distribution centered on the output spectral positions. There are three modes to select concerning the spectral data used for the averages and the definition of the output spectral positions. This TASK is used after carrying out the TASK Pos.Correct.
basic: AT for BEARS

* NOTICE:
Spectra will be appended if the name of the output file already exists.

* USAGE:
    < Parameter window for AT for BEARS >

  1. Setting up parameters
    spectrum file(in) :
    Type a file name and class, or select a file from [File List] for input.
    spectrum file(out) :
    Specify a file name for output. When you set an extension mode to manual, specify the class name (extension).
    smoothing width (") :
    This TASK calculates the weighted average of intensity according to spatial displacement and RMS noise (1/rms2) of each spectrum. The former weighting is calculated based on Gaussian distribution. Set a FWHM of the Gaussian in arcsecond.
    Mode :
    The 'Mode' selects on an arrangement of the calculated spectral positions of output data.
    Gaussian :
    This mode averages spectra at neighboring positions which are corrected for the field distortion (Pos.Correct). The weighted average is calculated by the Gaussian which has FWHM of 'smoothing width'. The results are calculated around the original (distortion-uncorrected) positions.
    Gaussian restricted (to mean pos.) :
    This mode averages spectra which have the same position before correction of the field distortion (Pos.Correct). The results are calculated around the simple mean coordinate of distortion corrected positions.
    Gaussian restricted :
    This mode averages spectra which have the same position before correction of the field distortion (Pos.Correct). The results are calculated around the original (distortion-uncorrected) positions.
    <Spectrum Window>
    Specify spectrum numbers (sp.#) that you want to treat.

  2. Setting up parameters in Option
    < Parameter optional window for AT for BEARS >

    Searching radius of the data can be set in the following. Spectra used for average are only within this radius. There are two methods as the following and the TASK adopts a method which has smaller radius.

    Search radius(") :
    Set the search radius in arcsecond.
    Scale factor limit :
    Set the scale factor limit. The data are searched within the radius at which the weight (only from a Gaussian weighting according to spatial displacements) has larger value than this scale factor limit.

  3. Execution
      Execute this TASK from the menu bar. The TASK automatically ends.
