Nobeyama Radio Observatory is open to visitors from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., except during the New Year holidays.

　✏️ The 45-m Radio Telescope is approximately 600 m from the reception area, about a 10-minute walk.

Information		　✏️ To protect our radio observations, please switch off all radio-emitting devices (including mobile phones, smartphones, and Wi-Fi) when you are near the antennas.
　🆗 Pets are welcome on the grounds but are not permitted inside the Exhibition Building. Please clean up after your pet.
　❌ The use of drones is prohibited.
　❌ Smoking is prohibited anywhere on the observatory grounds.

Photography and filming at the observatory are classified into three categories: visitor photography, media photography, and commercial photography, depending on the location, time, and purpose of the activity. Permission and application requirements vary by category.

Access

🚃 By Train

The nearest station is Nobeyama Station on the JR Koumi Line.

  • From Nagano City or Gunma:
    • Take the Hokuriku Shinkansen to Sakudaira Station,
    • then transfer to the JR Koumi Line for Nobeyama Station.
  • From Tokyo or Nagoya:
    • Take the JR Chuo Main Line to Kobuchizawa Station,
    • then transfer to the JR Koumi Line for Nobeyama Station.

Getting from Nobeyama Station to Nobeyama Radio Observatory

From Nobeyama Station, you can reach the observatory by:

🚗 By Car

  • From Tokyo or Nagoya:
    • Take the Chuo Expressway and exit at Nagasaka Interchange (IC),
    • then follow National Route 141.
  • From Nagano City or Gunma:
    • Take the Chubu-Odan Expressway and exit at Yachiho Kogen Interchange (IC),
    • then follow National Route 141.

Please use the Village Observatory Parking Lot.
