Let's create Grey scale image of a map image

This TASK creates a plot file of grey scale image of an image file that was created by NewStar imaging tasks, such as Map(large) and P-V DIAGRAM. Moreover, contour image of an image file can be overlaid on grey scale image. An image file which is different from the created grey scale image in the same region can be overlaid.
This TASK uses a task GREYS in AIPS. You can see online help of GREYS in AIPS about details of this TASK (Click [Help] in right of the menu bar and select [This procedure] from the pull-down menu.).

* NOTICE:
This TASK creates only a plot file. It is necessary to use the TASK(s), Plot to LW or Plot to SSS, in order to print out or display the created plot file.



* USAGE:
1. Starting Grey plot
Click [Grey plot] on Button Panel. The following parameter window appears.

2. Setting up parameters
  1. Type map file name in "Grey scale image file" or select a file from [File List]. Usage of [File List]
  2. Type map file name in "Contour image name".
  3. Check all 0 with "Bottom left" and "Top right". Then the entire map is displayed.
  4. Type minimum and maximum intensities of Grey scale in "Intensity (min,max)". If you set '0' and '0', the minimum and maximum intensities of the map are adopted.
  5. Set "Type of labeling" to 'Standard'.
  6. Type percent of peak for the contour increment in "% of peak for levs". You may disregard "Abs.value for levs" now.
  7. Type contour levels in unit of the increment in "Contour levels". If you set '0', the levels of -10, -9, -8, ..., -1, 1, 2, ..., 10 are adopted.

3. Execution
  1. Click [Exec] in the menu bar, and select [Activate program] from the pull-down menu.
  2. This TASK ends with the message "Appears to have ended successfully" in the message window.
