2. How to use
1. rename
Double click the file you want to rename. The following rename_popup appears.
Specify a new file name (if necessary, also specify class and sequence number by connecting with "." [period]), and click [OK].

    Some limitations and details
  • You cannot change sequence numbers (Seq#) of spectrum files, because TASKs related to spectrum do not have a concept of sequence numbers due to histrical reasons.
  • On the other hand, you can change sequence numbers of image files.
  • In case of raw data files, only the name can be changed, and observational dates ("Class") and sequence numbers cannot be changed. In addition, the name of related raw data files (same name and "Class") is simultaneously changed.
2. reset
[Update file list]
Displays the updated file list.
Click [Reset] in the menu bar, and select [Update file list].
[Clear status]
Clears READ and WRITE status.
After marking a file(s), click [Reset] in the menu bar and select [Clear status].
Please do not execute this procedure for a currently active file(s).

3. header

Click [Header] in the menu bar, and select [SP#] or [AIPS header].

[SP#]

You can select items to output from two default sets.
See also a TASK SP#.
[AIPS header]
Displays AIPS header of a file in the message window.

4. back up
You can save a file(s) you marked. The output is in NewStar (AIPS) format.
(When you load the files with this format, use a TASK FROM CMT.)
Click [BackUp] in the menu bar, and select [to tape] or [to disk file]. The following backup_popup appears. After specifying a device name or file name, click [OK].

[to tape]Tape device is unavilable from NEWSTAR
Files are backed up to DAT (or 8mm tape). Specify a device name. For example, type "mt21u:/dev/rmt/0n" when you use the DAT drive in 2F computer room ("mt21u" is the name of the workstation, and "/dev/rmt/0n" the name of the DAT drive).
The device name of the 8mm tape drive is "/dev/rmt/1n".
When the box of "Print <BACK UP LIST>" is checked (default), a list of backed up files is printed out. You will need sequence numbers of the files in this list, when you load the files using FROM CMT.
[to disk file]
Files are backed up to a disk. Specify an output file name using an absolute path, such as "mt21u:/home/Group/Project/work" (type your Group name and Project name in /Group/Project/).
